Floors for Kew Renovations and Extensions
A new extension slab is the easiest floor in the house to get right, because it has never been painted, stained or patched. Ground and sealed, it becomes a polished-look concrete floor that suits an open-plan living space; coated in solid colour epoxy, it becomes a warm, seamless surface for a family room or a studio out the back. Either way the work is scheduled with the builder so it happens after the wet trades and before the joinery goes in.
The older parts of the house get the same finishes on a prepared slab: the laundry and mudroom, where a flake floor hides the traffic from the yard and cleans with a mop, the basement or undercroft that is turning into a gym or a games room, and the covered alfresco, which takes a UV-stable, non-slip coating.
